Where can I Get 3-D Glasses?

Whether you bought a 3-D television that didn’t come with glasses or would like to buy a few extra pairs for when you have company, you have plenty of options. One thing’s for sure: You’re not going to get very far without them. Even if you have the best 3-D on the market, you won’t be able to enjoy 3-D programming without the right glasses. If you don’t have enough pairs, others will miss out on the fun. Fortunately, it’s fairly easy to buy 3-D glasses, and there are plenty of places to get them.

Reasons to Buy 3-D Glasses

When you go to the movie theater to watch a 3-D film, you have to wear special glasses. The same thing is true about 3-D televisions. If you try to watch 3-D programming without the appropriate glasses, everything will be blurry. The images on the screen won’t look right. You might even feel vaguely ill from trying to watch.

If your TV didn’t come with 3-D glasses, you’ll have to buy some before you can start enjoying 3-D shows. Even if your set came with some, you may not have enough for everyone in the home. Also, it’s nice to keep a few extra pairs handy in case you have company. By stocking up and keeping a selection on hand, you’ll always have enough to pass around. Furthermore, you’ll have backups in case something happens to another pair.

Are 3-D Glasses Included with 3-D TVs?

Most 3-D televisions are sold to work right out of the box. Therefore, they usually come with 3-D glasses. Considering that families are usually the ones who buy these TVs, it’s natural to assume that most sets would come with at least four pairs. However, only two pairs are typically included. This is a great way for the TV manufacturer to make a little extra money, and it’s pretty frustrating for consumers.

Before buying your 3-D TV, find out how many glasses are included. It’s sometimes possible to tack on a few additional pairs, and this is often the cheapest way to go. Be aware that some sets don’t include any 3-D glasses at all. This may seem illogical, but it’s partly because 3-D functionality is just one part of most modern TVs.

Compatibility

In the event that you need to buy 3-D glasses, don’t just run out and buy the first pair you find. There are two main categories: active 3-D glasses and passive 3-D glasses. If you buy the wrong type, they won’t work with your TV. Check the manual for your set to find out which kind you need. You can always just buy the same exact glasses that came with your TV, but this isn’t always possible.

The easiest way to track down compatible 3-D glasses for your TV is by searching online. You can easily check the specifications of each pair to ensure that they will work with your 3-D TV. Many sites include compatibility information right in the description, which is extremely helpful as well.

Universal 3-D Glasses

In an effort to make things less confusing for consumers, universal 3-D glasses have been developed. Many models are available, but you should proceed with caution when buying them. Just because they’re labeled as universal doesn’t mean they will literally work with any TV. In fact, most so-called universal 3-D glasses only work with one or two brands.

Where to Buy 3-D Glasses

Once you’ve figured out the kind of 3-D glasses you need, you can actually go out and buy them. Local big-box stores are likely to have what you need, but it’s a lot easier to just purchase them online. The only exception would be if you literally need them right away. If you can wait for a few days, you should be able to find the right pair online, and you’ll probably get a really good deal too. If you’re going to buy them locally, start with the store where you purchased your 3-D TV in the first place. Otherwise, try an electronics store.

Get the Most Out of Your 3-D Glasses

Most 3-D glasses are durable enough to last for years. Still, you need to do your part to keep them safe. When they’re not being used, keep them on a shelf or in a cabinet where they can’t be damaged. If they are, you can always buy more.
